Absolutely! Giving your dog more time in a training program is still beneficial. We can take them on more outings and proof their obedience around a myriad of environments.
I take cash, check, Venmo, and Zelle. Zelle is preferred. We also offer financing through Affirm.
We do! We offer financing through Affirm. There is a link on the home page of this website titled "Finance Training Here!" If you do not wish to pay via any of the options above, you can finance your training program. Click on the link after you have scheduled your board and train, and it will guide you to the Shopify account where you will choose the length of your board and train and it will give you the option to select a payment plan through Affirm.
Point2Place Dog Training has a strict NO REFUND policy. Due to the nature of our business, all services are provided before the dog is back in your care. The services are paid for up front, and there is no way for me to "un-train" your dog if you want your money back. We offer one follow-up lesson at NO cost for every family, so if there is something that needs tweaking or you need help with something, we are always available to you.
This is the equivalent of asking, "When can I stop wearing my seatbelt?"
The e-collar is your safety net. If you give your dog a command and they do not listen, the e-collar is there for you to correct them. If you're on a trail and your dog ignores your recall, the e-collar is there for you to get them to come back to you. The e-collar does you no good if it is not on the dog. The e-collar should be used as consistently as possible for the first 30-60 days after your dog comes home from training.
Now, do my dogs wear their e-collars around the house every single day? No. But, if we go on an outing, especially if they are off-leash, you bet they have their e-collars on. I may not even touch the remote once, but it is there JUST in case.
The Mini Educator by E-Collar Technologies, which is the only brand of e-collars I will use, uses a TENS-unit technology. If you have dealt with chronic pain you may have used a TENS unit before. TENS units essentially stimulate the muscles underneath your skin. There are levels 0-100. The lower levels feel like a tingle or a tickle. Personally, I cannot even feel the tingle until it is at a level 20. My dog, and many dogs I've worked with, feel numbers as low as 3/100. The higher numbers are obviously more uncomfortable, but it is impossible to injure a dog with an e-collar. Even if you held the button down on the highest level on your skin, it would not burn you or anything like that because it is just twitching your muscles.
Some dogs don't need as much structure, and some dogs need massive amounts of structure. You are the only one who can answer this question. The only way to find out is to try it out and see how it goes. If you find your dog is not listening as well, being pushy, not getting down when asked, etc., then they may not be the best candidate to have furniture privileges.
If you do allow your dog on the furniture, they should only be allowed when you are sitting on the couch and you invite them up.
Unfortunately, I do not allow dogs with severe behavioral issues to enroll in anything less than the three week board and train program. It is unfair to the dog and to you as the owner to expect your dog's behavioral issues to be fixed in such a short amount of time. As the trainer, I know that these goals are unrealistic and I do not like sending home half-trained dogs. I recommend you wait, save your money, and enroll in the longer program. I also offer payment plans on a case-by-case basis.
