Why E-Collar Training?

E-collars are extremely versatile. The Mini Educator by E-Collar Technologies is the brand of e-collar we use. They have a beep, vibrate, and a stimulation function. The stimulation function has levels ranging from 0-100. The technology used inside of the Mini Educator is the same technology used in TENS units, which is a form of muscle therapy. It uses electrical impulses to stimulate your muscles. Most humans cannot even feel levels 0-15. Every owner gets to feel what the e-collar feels like on their own skin and every one of them is surprised at how non-invasive the feeling is. Dogs can feel lower levels than us humans, some feeling as low as level 1. Most dogs I work with work around levels 4-10. These levels may fluctuate based on how distracting the environment is.

We use e-collars to better communicate with our dogs, both on and off leash. Once our dogs know the commands, we can use the tone and stimulation function to hold them accountable, or remind them to listen. This tool is what bridges the gap between the dog listening to the trainer and the owner. During a board and train, the trainer develops a relationship with your dog, a completely different relationship than you have with your dog. The e-collar helps bridge the gap and helps you rewire your relationship with your dog into a productive one, like the one the trainer has with your dog by holding them accountable for known commands.
